Applying Asphalt Sealersealcoating asphalt

How Many Coats Of Sealer Should Be Applied To An Asphalt Parking Lot?

There are two types of applications: Spray and Squeegee.

Applying asphalt sealer by spray

When the sealer is sprayed on, it’s applied with a spray wand coming out of a tank. Usually these tanks are 300 to 500 and even 1000 gallon tanks mounted on trucks or trailers. If the sealer is being applied with spraying equipment, then 2 coats of sealer is recommended and 3 coats in the drive lanes.

Applying asphalt sealer by squeegee

When the sealer is squeegeed on, it’s applied by spreading it with the squeegees or by using a squeegee machine. If it’s being applied by squeegees, then one heavy coat or two even coats can be applied with an additional coat in the drive lanes.
